Untitled (group shot)
( terrible photograph taken in Camosun's library of this acrylic painting by Angela Grossman titled "Group Shot (Untitled)" ) As part of Camosun's 2016 Art-Poem-Art project I wrote the following poem in response to the above painting: Here in such sinking symmetrical grace silhouettes of balanced branches, among a forest falling throughout the ages. One mere muse unable to reach seemingly unsayable edges so endless extensions must assist to convey in completion, the extensive authenticity of beauty. Most apparent of all is how casual and unfaltering the familiarity, feuds and fragments of forgotten features frozen in reflected faces. This photograph. Row upon row the paint brush strokes. Now evolving and showing how they have grown. Some stories so dismissed discerned only when we seek over our shoulders. The springtide seems to know. Time perseveres, in staggered procession from the hopeful past to the humble present. They twirl together in creation requiring a dance floor of canvas, life has unfolded to flourish the framework, the roots from where many mirages manifest. The additions always waxing as aging accumulations yawn and wane and fade. Front and foremost says don’t look back, take me away with you from these hazy ideas in transient passing. Individuality carries such a suitcase. Secluded from the surface yet resurrecting so secretly. Here, in plain sight each lash laid with one's own fingerprints. And effectively so, uniting this universally undying truth. The solitary soul is an ironic myth. We each as one, hold a thousand boundless ghosts. *AMK http://art-poem-experiment.com/alexismyriahkoome/
