getaway car
Was jilted in january 2014 and jolted forwards into my own life. I'd been living but, had I been living? My dream ride crossed my path and I traded my honda civic real quick. I got a brief sublet and money serving gig then took off to see the rest of my country beyond BC's mountains. A friend and I spent 33 days driving to the East and back again. When we returned in October my bus & I tucked away on thetis island and I attempted to make writing a priority. My trailer had no wifi or cell service so I read, wrote, and stoked the fire. I spent eight months hiding in the forest writing as many words as I could. Eventually I went back to my hometown where my van broke down. I spent the following winter living on a sailboat and writing for camosun's paper while taking a couple classes. I lasted one semester then moved out onto the peninsula to work at a farm and have my van's engine rebuilt. When it was back on the road I completely re-did the interior and drove South into the desert. I needed heat, and red landscapes. My bus broke down in Arizona where I learned how to make dreamcatchers and replaced my starter. Again. When I ran outta money I returned to the gulf islands of BC to re-pack, then reached farther north to the archipelago of Haida Gwaii (the Queen Charlotte Islands). I'm here to help renovate and then run an art gallery for the summer. At least. Here are the following thoughts as these things have unfolded...
