Winter's Arrival
The world outside is cold and frozen the night air is still, frost has coasted our garden winter has brought its chill. The street lamps cast a foggy glow the moon is doused in cloud, stars are scattered far above the sky still sings out loud. The bushes are empty and barren the flowers have all died away though the tides still rise, uncompromised, the ocean is here to stay. Inside the fire is talking in cracked and snapping breaths the warmth is orange and lovely its hearth is messy and kept. Fairy lights softly sparkle where stockings once hung with care their gifts have been received, although, their love still lingers there. Sometimes this house is empty, sometimes it's filled to the brim, though the happiness always overflows there's no place I'd rather swim.
